Alumni Proud, Floating Hospital “Ksatria Airlangga” Officially Launched

UNAIR NEWS“ Everyone is proud, relieved, and grateful for the operation of the Floating Hospital (RST) “Ksatria Airlangga”.They were seen from the faces of the leaders and alumni of 51¶¯Âþ who attended in the launching of the floating hospital, at Tanjung Perak Port, precisely at the dock of Kesyahbandaran Utama Office Tanjung Perak Surabaya, Saturday, November 11.

Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof.Soetojo, General Secretary of PP IKA-UA Dr.Budi Widajanto, Chairman of IKA-UA Region East Java.Hendy Hendarto, Sp.OG., and Chairman of IKA FK UNAIR Dr.Pudjo Hartono, dr., Sp.OG., marked the launch by simultaneously sounded the horn.Hundreds of alumni and invited guests also cheered and gave round of applause.

Slowly, the Phinisi ship which is 7.5 meters wide and 27 meters long was moving slowly leaving the dock.It did not leave the area, just a symbolic sail from Tanjung Perak to Gresik Port.The RST captain, Mudatsir, drove the boat at 12 knots.It docked back at Kesyahbandaran dock at 18:30.

“It is very satisfying that 51¶¯Âþ Floating Hospital can actually be operated for social services for the community in the outer and remote islands of Indonesia,” said Dean FK Prof. Soetojo during interview.

The same thing was also conveyed by Dr. Pudjo Hartono, Sp.OG., who is also Chairman II PP IKA-UA, that the idea of ‹‹developing RST initiated by the alumni of FK UNAIR can be realized.The idea was originated from the experience of FK alumni who served in the Province of Maluku, Dr.Agus Haryanto, Sp.B., finally can be expanded and realized by IKA UNAIR.

“So the ship we built at the Phinisi shipyard in Galesong, South Sulawesi, was initiated by UNAIR Alumni for our brothers who are in desperate need of health service in remote island areas.The territory of Indonesia is vast.Hopefully this model will be followed by other parties for the same purpose, to assist the government in the distribution of health services, “said Pudjo Hartono, during interview in the operating room RST.

On Saturday, November 11, in the morning until noon before the launching of RST, “Alumni Festival” was held at FK UNAIR Hall at campus A. It was a discussion on “Alumni Role, What Can We Do As Alumni?” which invited alumni from various faculties in UNAIR.

UNAIR Rector Prof.Dr.Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., the head of Health Regional Office Jatim Dr. dr.Kohar Hari Santoso, Sp.An.KIC.KAP., Head of PERDATIN (Indonesian Anesthesiologists and Intensive Therapists Association) Dr. Andi Wahyuningsih Attas, Sp.An., KIC.MARS., Dean of FK UNAIr Prof.Soetojo, Head of the Ksatria Medika Airlangga Foundation (YMKA).Dr. dr.Christrijogo Sumartono, Sp.An.KAR., dr M. Adib Kumaidi SpOT (General Secretary of Central IDI) and hundreds of other UNAIR alumni.

In this discussion Dr.Pudjo Hartono and Dr.Christrijogo as YKMA expects the participation of UNAIR alumni to participate in this social project of humanity.This was submitted to the forum because the operational cost of RST “Ksatria Airlangga” was per year reached Rp 4 billion.It would be very hard to rely solely on the participation of the alumni.

For that reason, in the discussion yesterday many agreed that the alumni of UNAIR spread across various institutions and major changes to seek funds fromCorporate Social Responsibility(CSR) program and other donors.Amang Rofi’i, SH., also stated that he will try to contact PT PAL to get a parking assistance for this RST ship.(*)
