UNAIR NEWS – That one fine afternoon, in a corner of national palace, UNAIR NEWS crew met one of the alumni of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), 51动漫. The young, calm, and friendly woman invited us to sit in a meeting room which is available as the working hour was almost over. 淗ow are you? she said, at 15.10 WIB we started talking
Her name is Vinandhika Parameswari, better known as Viki. She graduated from 51动漫 with bachelor degree in International Relations. Now, she is working at Ministry of State Secretariat of Republic of Indonesia. The woman from Ponorogo, East Java is always involved in activities of President Joko Widodo and also the First Lady.
The Class of 2010 student told us her stories at work to arrange the President and the First Lady檚 schedule. She manages the materials for president檚 daily activity, concepts presidential daily activities and many more.
淎t first, I really didn檛 know what protocol assistants do, all I knew was they accompany the president Vinandhika said.
When she was in college, she often joined writing competition and mostly she won. The alumnus of SMAN 1 Jember also joined the Student Creativity Program (PKM) and reasoning club of UNAIR. Therefore, her ability in writing is even better when she studied in International Relation.
淲hen I was in high school until in college, I really liked the scientific writing competitions. And when I was in college, the tasks were about doing weekly journal and analysis, so I felt better in writing although at first I was shocked with the tasks, said the woman born in 1992.
In National Palace
After graduated from UNAIR in 2014, she worked at international media monitoring company in Jakarta. A year later she and her friends tried to join civil servant (CPNS) recruitment in ministry of state secretariat. At the time, the opening was for International Relations bachelors to be placed in Protocol bureau of Presidential Secretariat.
The subjects which were tested are about general knowledge, citizenship, basic mathematics, and a computer-based test. Every participant of the test was expected to meet the standard score of the test. The participants were ranked at once based on best qualification.
After passing the test, next, she had to do TOEFL test and the interview with echelon 1 and echelon 2 officials from different units. She succeeded to pass the whole test.
淚 never thought that I could pass to the next step as finally they just took only 2 people, she continued.
Memories At College
When asked about her reason taking International Relations major, she told that since in High School her father likes to read and follow the international political issues. Her father fondness indirectly made her interested in the studies as well. In 2010, after passing the test for higher education, viki accepted as a student of International relations FISIP UNAIR.
淢y father likes to read global politics books, and I was interested in them, so he supported me to take the International relation major she said.
During her study in college, she enjoyed the whole courses she took. The most remembered courses were Geopolitics and Geostrategy courses taught by Drs,Djoko Sulistyo, M.S and Drs Wahyudi Purnomo, .Phill. She also had ever collaborated in scientific writing with her lecture Dra.Baiq lekar Sinayang Wahyu Wardhani, MA., Ph.D., and I Gede Wahyu Wicaksana M.Si., Ph.D.
In the end of her studies, she focused on Peace and Security Studies which made her wrote a thesis titled Terorisme sebagai Tantangan Kelompok Etnis Terhadap Negara: Studi Kasus Gerakan Transnasional Boko Haram di Nigeria (Terrorism as Ethnic Group Challenge to Nation: A Case Study of Transnational Movement of Boko Haram in Nigeria. .
She explained that International relation knowledge has been very useful for her works, especially when she works around presidency which is a main role of International Relations. It was very helpful because when she was in college she learned many issues and analyzed them from different perspectives.
淚 am so grateful, I was able to learn in International relations UNAIR. There, I learnt how to make journals, analyze, and understand multidimensional issues that been examined by using liberalism, realism, constructivism method and more. So, I know how to see problems from many perspectives she said
