UNAIR NEWS Department of Anatomy and Histology Faculty of Medicine 51动漫 has excellent international level laboratory. It is named Airlangga Surgical Anatomy Development Centeror ASAD-C. It uses a newly-designed modern anatomy laboratory equipped with sophisticated medical instruments.
The initiator of ASAD-C establishment, Asra Al Fauzi, dr. Sp.BS, explained that it was not easy to develop a laboratory like ASAD-C due to difficulty to get fresh cadaver. It also happens in America, Japan and Europe.
In Japan and Singapore, to practice with cadaver, they have to import it from America and it is not a full body cadaver, only body parts based on the order. Russia even bans the use of dead body for medical studies.
Based on Asra檚 observation, in some places abroad, cadaver laboratory are made at the workshop venues without developing special room for practice. It is different from ASAD-C where the instruments were prepared permanently.
It is prepared to be a real operation theatre. There is a three dimensional video monitor on the wall. The workshop participants can watch the monitor with special 3D glasses and there are 100 3D glasses prepared.
This lab is also equipped with sophisticated facilities such as 3D operation , pendant, fresh cadaver refrigerator. This cadaver laboratory is suitable for human anatomy workshops and trainings.
There are 20 operation tables complete with their pendants. Power source is well managed so there are no messy cables on the floor. ASAD-C also has 16 cadaver refrigerator which can keep two cadavers each.
漌e want to make the training participants to feel like being in an operation theatre. We also have made the blood vessel change color by injecting some substance. Arteries turn red and not all cadaver laboratories can do it, special study abroad is needed for that, he said.
At first, it was not easy to develop this laboratory. It cost a lot and not all supported the development as they do not see the urgency and the opportunities ahead. But finally, all of them were convinced and it was finally finished. There are some more instruments to install and some more are being develivered such as C-AM device which can be used to take photos of bone operation and see the result of it.
Asra Al Fauzi added that next he wanted to make ASAD-C as a world class venue from three sides; world class venue, world class equipment and world class instructor. To achieve them, preparation s are being made including implementing integrated management. With excellent management, cadaver use will be more effective and efficient which then later lower the cost.
We should be proud of it as this laboratory is the first one made in Indonesia. I can say that, this venue is the best in Asia or at least South-east Asia. There is one in ChulalongkornUniversityThailand but it is not as good as in UNAIR, they do not have 3D video facility. In Japan, there is a 3D facility and also in America, he said. (*)
