UNAIR NEWS – Ramadan becomes a special moment to get closer to Allah SWT, especially for worship and charity.In welcoming this holy month, the Department of Community Service (Pengmas) Student Executive Board (BEM) Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) held a Cheerful Community at Griya Wredha Nursing Home, Jambangan, Friday, May 18.A series of activities bring joy to all residents of the nursing home and the committee also enjoyed chatting with the elderlies.
The activity was welcomed well by the orphanage, especially the nursing caretaker Septarti Hendartini S. Sos.This year’s annual activity focused on site after a previous activity was for children.Riza Khoiriyah, one of the committees, explained that the community service is a place of caring and sharing in Ramadhan.
While waiting for the dusk, the committee prepares “rocking balloons” game for the elderlies in the Nursing Home.Excitement was seen from many of them as they did not heed the rules from the committee.After the game, there was a performance of Griya Wredha banjari group.In addition, FEB students also took parts in it.
After azan heard, activities continued with having iftar together and a sermon.Riza admitted that seeing the elderlies have brought happiness, they also felt emotional when they remembered their own grandfather, grandmother, and parents in the hometown.The elderlies also feel happy in the nursing home for the presence of FEB students and their exciting activities.
“Hopefully in the future, this Cheerful community service will retain the values 媼in the activity, caring, sharing, and place to make good deeds,” said Riza.
