BSO ACLJ and BEM UNAIR Hold Public Discussion on Mass Groups Perppu

UNAIR NEWS– Government Regulation in Lieu of Law no.2 Year 2017 on Mass Groups has been enacted.Although there are pros and cons during its drafting. However, the government apparently notice the urgency that eventually changed the status of this regulation into law.

As the Semi Autonomous Body (BSO) engaged in law and studies, Airlangga Criminal Law Research and Monitoring Justice (ACLJ) Faculty of Law UNAIR, participated in discussing the legalization of the regulation in lieu of law on Mass Groups on Monday, November 6. In cooperation with the Ministry of Social and Politics BEM UNAIR.This discussion was followed by no less than 20 students from internal and external participants of Faculty of Law.

“There are pros and cons on this perppu on mass groups from its design to validation. We as students then see that this needs to be reviewed. Here, we put more emphasis on the research. For example, research on law is reviewed from the setting of chapter, whether the articles are appropriate or can they be misinterpreted, “said Giustin Lubis, Head of BSO ACLJ.

In the discussion, all the articles in the mass groups perppu were reviewed and they found several articles that were considered to be multi-interpretative and did not provide legal certainty.Furthermore, it was also studied from the social and humanities aspects as it does not only have legal impacts.

Hopefully, after following this discussion, students are more active and responsive to the problems around them and able to make good and correct efforts for the existing problems.

“We from ACLJ hope that the students have an active and responsive attitude to examine various matters and discuss each problem as the initial step of settlement. Not just complaining. But the most important thing is to act appropriately, “added the fifth semester student.
