UNAIR NEWS Community service team of Animal Health Diploma 3 program Faculty of Vocational Studies 51动漫 held a technology training in Selogabus and Margorejo village, Parengan Subdistrict, Tuban Regency. The community service was held on Saturday, July 22 and it was a Science and Technology community service entitled 淭echnology of Making Complete Feed Herbal and Turning Cattle Waste into Biogas.
Retno Sri Wahjuni as the head of the community service said that the abundance of material will be useful and give more benefits to the locals with appropriate touch of technology, such as the easily found curcuma. It gives a lot of benefits for cattle such as preventing worms and improving appetite.
淭he goals of this IbM community service were to improve the local breeders prosperity and their incomes with complete herbal feed and local plants fermented feed. It is an alternative for feed scarcity season and the utilization of cattle waste into biogas, said Retno.
Prof. Dr. Mirni Lamid, drh., MP as the speaker as well as the Dean of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine 51动漫 said that grass is the main feed of cattle while additional feed uses concentrate.
She explained that complete feedconsists of grass and concentrate with curcuma as the additional feed. Complete feed can be made from the materials easily found in the region with inexpensive price.
淐omplete herbal feedhas more nutrients with better digestion rate. Furthermore, to deal with the feed scarcity season, the breeders were trained to use hay and probiotic to make high nutrient feed, she stated.
The IbM program also discussed about the cattle waste treatment and turning it into biogas as alternative household gas. It was explained by Gandul Atik, drh., M.Kes. a lecturer of FKH UNAIR. In this community service, body scoring measurement was also demonstrated by Sunaryo Hadi Warsito, drh., MP.
The participants of this program were 40 people from Sari Tani Cattle Breeder Group of Selogabus Village and Maju Jaya Cattle Breeder Group of Margorejo Village. It was also attended by the local governments.
Sugiman as the Secretary of Selogabus said that this activity was very useful as most of the people there were traditional cattle breeders.
淓very day, the feed served by the breeders were not ideal. With this community training and development in animal husbandry, the locals can improve their knowledge, said Sugiman.
He hoped that the locals economy can be improved. He also expected this collaboration to run well.
The IbM community service of Parengan Tuban was conducted by seven people team with two students of Animal Health D3 Program. For this continuity, the cattle weight is monitored every 30 days since the training. (*)
