UNAIR NEWS To commemorate World檚 Earth Day, Islamic Religious Student Activity Unit (UKMKI) 51动漫 with Tunas Hijau Indonesia held a mangrove planting event in Mangrove Wonorejo Ecotourism, Rungkut, Surabaya, April 22. There were 200 people participating in this event.
The program of Syiar and Science Department UKMKI was called Real Practice Proselytism: Activists Plant Mangrove.
淎llah SWT said in QS Al-Anbiya:107 is the background of the event organization. 淎nd We have not sent you, except as a mercy to the worlds. Therefore, these activities held by UKMKI, should also show concern to environment, said Affan Muhammad Andalan, Head of UKMKI 2017.
In this event, mangrove seeds were supported by Agriculture Agency of Surabaya. There were 1000 mangrove seeds to plant in Wonorejo riverbank, Surabaya. The participants reached the site by small boats.
The mangrove planting event was started by digging the soil for the seed with biopore drills. Then, the seeds are planted in.
Earth Day is the right moment to preserve the environment and improve the young generation檚 concern on Earth. The event received many supports from the students from UNAIR and other universities.
Beside the students, there are also supports from some schools in Surabaya which focus on ecopreneur. The collaboration with Tunas Hijau Indonesia and Surabaya City Government was a good start for youth to involve more in environmental preservation.
淭he moment of Earth day supported by the agency is a positive collaboration which should be improved. It is also a way to be good muslims, said Haidar Ali as the HEa dof the committee.
Interestingly, the participants are asked to bring their own food and drink. It is meant to reduce the plastic waste.
淲e are interested in preserving the environment. I support this campus agenda, said Irfan, one of the participants.
The event initiated by UKMKI was originated from their love to environment. The participants are expected to be the next generation which concerns with environment. (*)
