Cooperate with BNP2TKI, UNAIR Students Ready to Educate Indonesian Migrant Workers

UNAIR NEWS– Steps are continuously made by 51动漫 to serve the community excellently.This time, through the Institute of Community Service (LPM), UNAIR cooperates with the National Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI), conducted Thematic KKN-BBM (Community Service Program – Learning Together with the Community) to educate prospective migrant workers.

The Chairman of LPM UNAIR Prof.Dr.H. Jusuf Irianto, Drs.,., said that in this 58th thematic KKN-BBM, students involved in the program will be deployed in three areas, Banyuwangi, Jember and Lamongan.

“We deliberately focus on areas that become pockets of migrant workers in East Java,” he said.

Responding to Prof. Jusuf’s statement, Deputy Head of National Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI) Teguh Hendro Cahyono said that his party really need the role of academic community to participate in providing insight and knowledge to migrant workers (TKI), both the experienced or novice ones.

“It is our duty to participate in giving insight to them (TKI, ed).So the mistakes are not repeated or felt by other workers later, “said Teguh in LPM Office.

In addition, according to Teguh there are 20 villages in three areas that become pockets of TKI in East Java.By collaborating and involving UNAIR students, in the future, he hoped that prospective migrant workers who will go abroad can have good insights.

“So let this prospective worker has a good preparation to work abroad,” he added.

At the end, Teguh also revealed that the involvement of UNAIR students in the program was considered very effective as it will also be a good practice for students before they are in the community.

“In addition, students were expected to raise awareness of government officials and families of prospective migrant workers,” he explained.“Because, the facts on the field, we often found that officials and families do not know the work and destination countries of prospective migrant workers,” he concluded.
