D3 Library Technician UNAIR Holds International Conference

UNAIR NEWS To expand intellectualism, D3 Library Technician program of Faculty of Vocations (FV) UNAIR held an international conference on archives and library. The event held in Grand Bromo Room, Hotel Ibis Surabaya was opened by Dean of Faculty of Vocations (FV), Dr. Widi Hidayat, S.E., M. Si., Ak.

The event lasted for two days since October 12 had Transforming Information In The New Media as a theme. The event is annual event of our program, and it is the second year, said Nove Eka Variant Ana, S.Sos., MIMS as the Chairman of the Conference.

The conferences participants enthusiasm was great and more than the committee expectation. There were at least 200 participants for the conference, 37 of them participated in paper competition.

In our opinion, It was good already said Nove.

Nove said that the objectives of the international conference were to invite academicians, practitioners also researchers in library and archives sectors. It was quite useful so the participants could share their intellectualism, especially on library and archive studies.

The participants were from almost all universities in Indonesia which have similar programs such as in Kalimantan and Bali, he said. Later on, we hope that this event will be followed by international participants, as this conference is international level conference, added Nove.

The head of D3 Library Technician UNAIR, Endang Fitriyah Mannan, S.Sos., M.Hum said that the conference invited Prof.Daniel M. Rosyid,PhD., M.RINA., who was the Head of Education Board East Java and Abrizah Abdullah, PhD., a Professor from University Of Malaya Malaysia.

Prof. Daniel talked more on literacy at schools on method and learning materials. While Abdullah talked about Open Access, she said. (*)
