UNAIR NEWS – 淜补蝉耻尘补蝉补 UNAIR, sumauterimaanak-anaktanah. Terlalubaik. Sa banggajadianak UNAIR. (Thank you UNAIR which has kindly welcome us. I am proud to be a student in UNAIR). The line was made by Stevany Rumbobiar. She comes from coastal part of Manokwari, Papua. She is so happy to be a student in UNAIR. Since 2012, Stevany becomes the Faculty of Medicine student. She has just finished her study and now, she is doing her Co Asst Program.
Stevany is one of the recipients of ADik Papua Scholarship. This program provides big chances for student who live in Papua and 3T(Outermost, Remote and Disadvantage) Region to study further.
Stevany said that before was accepted in UNAIR, she had enrolled and been accepted as a student in one of the universities in Papua in Mining Major.
淚 made up my mind at that moment that if I could be accepted in Faculty of Medicine, I would be ready discontinue my study in Papua, but If I couldn檛 be accepted in Faculty of Medicine or could be accepted but not Faculty of Medicine, I would continue study in Papua, said the girl born on May 3, 1994.
Stevany explained that she does not mind the food in Surabaya because she used to stay in Jombang, East Java until she was in elementary school. However, sometimes she misses Papuan food like eating fresh fish and Papeda (Papua Traditional food).
淚f we live in Papua when you don檛 have any money, you still can eat. You can go fishing on the beach and eat it immediately. But In Surabaya, when we don檛 have money, we couldn檛 eat anything, Stevany added.
Stevany has planned to continue her study in master degree and take Tropical Health science major after finishing her bachelor program. She will return to Papua after completing her study. She will dedicate herself to be a lecturer in Papua.
淚 would like to return to Papua and be a lecturer. I would like to tell my friends there that being a doctor is not only about GPA but the most important is character. It檚 not important to be smart and graduated fast if it is the result of cheating, Stevany explained.
