UNAIR NEWS – Started from her love for Organic Chemistry, Ria Hesty Purnamasari, studied diligently and earned the best bachelor graduate of Chemistry Program of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) , in September 2017. She was graduated with 3.79 GPA.
His diligence during college made her be one of thefast trackprogram students ofChemistry MasterProgramin 2016. Previously, she had won second place in 2016 FST Outstanding Student and winner of NationalScientific Writing Competition, Green Innovation for The Better Future of Indonesia2014.
With a research entitled “The Effect of Catalysts on Synthesis of Ethyl-5-Methyl-7 (1-Methyl-2-Phenyl-Vinyl) -4,7-Dihidrotetrazolo [1,5-a] Pyrimidine-6-Carboxylicate Using Biginelli Reaction Modification”, she said the results of research withGreen Chemistry-based methodsthat she did can be used as anti-cancer drugs.
“It’s new and no one has studied about it before.The synthesis results that I get have biological activity, one of them as anti-cancer.My hope, this research can be a reference in the field of health, especially medicine, “saidthis Maduresegirl.
She had to repeat from the beginning when the compound of the synthesis fell and broke.She finally completed on time due to her persistence and tenacity in accomplishing everything.“When the results of my synthesis fall and break, it hampered my research,” she explained.
The activist of Chemical Students Association (HIMAKI) and Madura Student Forum (FORMARA) admitted, there are no specific tips to make this achievement. The most important thing is to understand what to do first and what can be set aside.
