DPD Reviews Documentation Network and Legal Information with UNAIR Experts

UNAIR NEWS Network Documentation and Legal Information or commonly referred to as JDIH is a forum for the efficient use of legal documents in an orderly, integrated and sustainable manner. To optimize the role of JDIH, the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) collaborated with experts from and Government of East Java Province to conduct monitoring and evaluation (monev).

The JDIH monev event held in Kahuripan Room 301, Campus C UNAIR, was opened by the Head of Center for Design and Study of Legal Policy Dra. Retno Wiratmi, M.Si. After the opening, the event continued with a presentation from Dr. Himawan Estu Bagijo, SH., MH., As Head of Legal Bureau of Regional Secretariat of East Java Province. In his speech, Himawan said that the purpose of JDIH establishment is to give and manage public information.

Then, Himawan also said that in carrying out their duties, the provincial government acts as the center of the network of documentation and legal information in their respective regions. In that case, he added, JDIH’s authority is directly managed by the law firm and then all will be integrated with various regions in various cities and regencies.

“East Java Province is one of the provinces with the best JDIH in Indonesia. And we are the only JDIH that can be accessed via android, “he said.

Nevertheless, it does not mean JDIH in East Java has no problem. According to him, the problems that often encountered include human resources who lack understanding of website management, minimum budget, hacker attacks, limited personnel, and infrastructure facilities that were inadequate.

“Therefore, this kind of review is expected to provide an input to the problems,” he explained.

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Tatiek Sri Jatmiati, SH., MS., as Professor of Faculty of Law UNAIR had the opportunity to speak her mind. In her presentation, Prof. Tatiek further reaffirmed the role of DPD. For him, the DPD is a state institution that should represent the provincial government in accessing and accommodating the interests of the region.

“Therefore, in order to optimize the attributive authority, the DPD should submit many bill drafts and other legal products and take steps to make policies accessible to the parties concerned,” she explained.
