UNAIR NEWS Master program檚 field of study is usually a continuation from the previously taken bachelor program檚 field of study. However, what Dita Widiyanti Sawitri did was a little unusual. This woman, born in Surabaya, chose to take a study of pure Biology for her master檚 degree, which was different from her bachelor degree in education.
淭his is a new, very challenging thing for me, Dita said. Nevertheless it is indeed in this master program, Dita was awarded the best master graduate of the and Technology (FST) 51动漫, and graduated with a GPA of 3,93.
About doing research for her thesis, Dita sees it as a quite winding struggle. Among the reasons is her decision to get married in a young age, which temporarily postponed her research for the thesis. In the beginning this research was expected to be finished in less than a year, but her decision to get married during that period of time is one of the reasons why she took a longer time to do the research.
淎nother struggle was I had to burn the midnight oil. Studying at some dorm room until the late of night, then coming home but still couldn檛 fall asleep. So at 5 in the morning I came back to my friend檚 dorm room until the test day, Dita explained.
This second daughter of two siblings was succeeded in earning her master檚 degree owing to her thesis, 淚solation, Characterization, and Activity Tests on Potential Indigent Bacteria for the Degradation of Pharmaceutical Industrial Waste which Contains Organic Solvent, which stood up to examination. This research, among others, discusses microbiological field of study by doing isolation, characterization, and activity tests on indigent bacteria which is contained in pharmaceutical industrial waste in the form of active mud to be used in the degradation of pharmaceutical industrial waste which contains organic solvent.
淭herefore the result from this research takes the form of isolated potential indigent bacteria which are capable of degrading pharmaceutical industrial waste, and so they can be used in the waste treatment of pharmaceutical industry, said the girl who cooks as a hobby.
In the end of the interview, Dita also took the time to share her experience with students who are doing their final essay. 淔or my fellow students who are doing their final essay, allocate the research time well, minimize any error when doing it, especially when you are working in the laboratory, do more readings and never hesitate to ask, Dita said.
