UNAIR NEWS“ Students of PKIP (Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences) 2018 FKM initiated the “KTR yang Dirindukan” (The Hoped for Non Smoking Area) project.This is the task of health promotion development course.There is an open discussion, declaration signing, and statement of attitude of student of state universities™ representatives in Surabaya related to the implementation of KTR, the event was motivated by Regional Regulation of Surabaya City Number5 Year 2008 which established the area without cigarettes and limited areas of cigarettes.
The event opened at three o’clock in the afternoon was located in front of the Rectorate Building of Campus C UNAIR, May 25.The event was attended by four representatives of State University in Surabaya, Unesa, UPN, ITS, and UNAIR as the hosts.
Prasita Ayu Widyaningtyas as a student of PKIP 2018 FKM UNAIR said that the participants were about 150 people of Student Executive Board representatives of each universities and the rest were visitors of the lake.At the end of the PKIP students served iftar meal.
“The pre-test questionnaire was distributed in Taman Bungkul before the D-day.It is useful to know the level of knowledge attitudes and actions of respondents regarding the importance of KTR.From thesurvey, 44% of respondents claimed to have applied and support the KTR in educational institutions, ” she said.
In addition, there was also a talk show in the event on ” Building Student Awareness on the Implementation of Non-Smoking Area in ‹‹Campus Area (Education Institution)”.The talkshow was hosted by the moderator and invited two speakers. One of the speakers was a lecturer at Faculty of Public Health Department of Epidemiology Kurnia Dwi Artanti (dr., M.Sc.).
“I think KTR needs to be implemented in all education institutions in order to create a comfortable atmosphere in the environment.So that learning activities are not disturbed by cigarette smoke, ” added Prasita.
At the end, he said that in terms of knowledge, the average student was aware that the local regulations should be applied.
“Students agree KTR exists because of the need to improve health level.And I hope that all students, especially in the 4 universities can beawareof the problems of cigarette smoke and KTR can be applied in all education institutions, “she concluded.
