UNAIR NEWS “ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) became the main focus of BBK 7 International 51¶¯Âþ () students™ visit on Friday, Jan 30, 2026, to Shizuoka Prefecture Earthquake Disaster Prevention Center and Shizuoka Salesio Catholic Highschool. The visit aimed to support SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
At Shizuoka Prefecture Earthquake Disaster Prevention Center, BBK 7 International students had the opportunity to learn about various aspects of natural disasters in Japan, from disaster types to evacuation procedures and disaster management. From the explanations provided, students learned that Shizuoka, in particular, is a community designed for sustainability, even though Japan frequently experiences natural disasters.
Every measure taken has been carefully planned to provide long-term solutions for disaster preparedness while maintaining harmony with nature. One of the highlights at the Shizuoka Prefecture Earthquake Disaster Prevention Center was when students experienced a simulated earthquake of magnitude 6 to 7 using a simulator where they felt the strong tremor of a magnitude 7 earthquake.
After visiting the Shizuoka Prefecture Earthquake Disaster Prevention Center, the day continued with a visit to Shizuoka Salesio Catholic Highschool. The visit began with warm greetings from Salesio students, who joined UNAIR students for lunch and exchanged stories. Through this interaction, both UNAIR students and Salesio students learned about each other™s culture and language in an enjoyable way.
Not only had discussions, but Salesio students also taught UNAIR students shoudou, or Japanese calligraphy, to write their names using kanji on paper with brushes. Afterward, UNAIR students presented about Indonesia and UNAIR™s role in addressing social issues through SDGs.
The visit concluded with a warm farewell and a group photo attended by all BBK 7 International students and Salesio students. Through this visit and collaboration, UNAIR also supported Shizuoka Salesio Catholic Highschool in providing quality international-standard education for children in Japan.
