UNAIR NEWS – Rector and Chairman of the Indonesian Rectors Forum led the rector delegation to meet President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace, on November 7, 2023. The president invited them to discuss several topics, including the development of a highly skilled Indonesian workforce.
淲e discussed multiple challenges in the future, how to prepare an excellent Indonesian workforce, so that in 2045, Indonesia can become one of the top five countries and achieve Golden Indonesia 2045, said Prof Nasih to the press.
The president assigned the rectors with the mission of transforming Indonesia into a developed nation in the future. The rectors shared the potential programs to achieve the goal.
淲e will discuss the technical details for the government檚 feedback, for the nation leaders, he said.
He shared multiple key ideas to ensure the achievement of the goals, such as the human resource quality improvement and the science and technology roadmap development, as the two pillars of an advanced nation.
淒eveloped countries always have advanced science and technology, therefore, it will be detailed input. In the future, what should the roadmap for the development of science and technology in Indonesia look like? To promote food security, healthcare, and energy resilience. The point is, we all become a self-reliant, independent, and advanced nation, said the Faculty of Economics and Business professor.
The rector also conveyed the President檚 request to provide input to the presidential candidates who will lead the nation.
淪o, it檚 not the other way around; it檚 not the presidential candidates pulling us in, but it檚 us who are asked to provide suggestions on what needs to be done for Indonesia檚 progress. This will be related to our discussions, he said.
Responding to the upcoming democracy celebration, Prof. Nasih hoped that the young voters would gain proper information.
