UNAIR NEWS Failure does not always mark the end of a dream. For Lt. Col. Cpm Rifky Nurachman, SH, a Faculty of Law alumnus of (UNAIR), failure instead became the turning point that led him to serve as Commander of the Military Police Detachment (Dandenpom) IV/4 Surakarta. In this role, he is responsible for enforcing law and discipline among Indonesian Army personnel within his jurisdiction.

A long journey

Nurachman described his achievement as the result of a long journey. After graduating from high school, he once applied for military selection but was not successful. After completing his studies at the Faculty of Law UNAIR and working in the private sector for some time, he decided to try again following encouragement from his younger sibling.

The effort finally paid off. In 2002, he officially joined the Indonesian Army through the Military Police Corps. Since then, his career has continued to develop through various assignments and military education programs, including deployments in North Sumatra and Aceh. 淢y legal knowledge was very useful there. Even before that, it had already been applied because I once served as an examiner, investigator, and in several other positions, Nurachman said.

Currently serving as Commander of Dandenpom IV/4 Surakarta, Nurachman leads a unit whose area of responsibility covers six regencies and one city. He explained that the main duty of the unit is not only to enforce the law but also to prevent violations and guide soldiers to remain professional and maintain integrity.

One of the most memorable experiences in his career occurred when he was entrusted with the position of Commander of the Officer Education Unit. In that role, he was not only responsible for teaching materials but also for shaping the leadership character of officer candidates so they could become role models in their units.

淎n officer must be a motivator. An officer must be able to set an example and guide subordinates. Therefore, the demands placed on an officer are very high. Whatever the background, the knowledge must be mastered so that the unit and its members can be led in the right direction, he said.

Throughout his career journey, he emphasized that family support became the main source of strength that brought him to his current position. He mentioned his parents, siblings, and extended family as figures who always provided encouragement and motivation in every phase of life.

淒o not be afraid to try and never live without dreams. Whatever the dream is, we must strive to achieve it with the best effort possible and never forget to pray, he said.
