UNAIR NEWS The Center for Career Development and Alumni Impact (PPKA) at (UNAIR), in partnership with Sea Group, organized the Shopee Campus Roadshow at Maleo Hall, Medang Building, Dharmawangsa-B Campus, on Monday, March 9, 2026. The interactive event served as a platform to introduce leading career development programs while offering students direct exposure to insights from the professional world.
Career opportunities and keys to success
Chandra Wijaya, representing People Search SPX Express, presented an overview of Sea Group檚 extensive ecosystem, which includes Garena, Shopee, SeaMoney, and SPX Express. He highlighted four key career pathways for young talents, ranging from apprenticeship programs to the Management Associate track, which offers opportunities for global job rotations. 淲e seek individuals who are fast learners, proactive, capable of solving problems, and effective in communicating through data, Wijaya explained.
To stand out in recruitment processes, Wijaya encouraged students to actively engage in competitions, organizational activities, and internships to build a strong and competitive mindset. He stressed that technical expertise plays a more significant role in employability than relying solely on a high GPA. 淭he most important thing is to remain authentic. Many candidates fail because they try to present themselves as someone they are not, he emphasized.
Real experience and courage to take opportunities
During the session, Shopee also introduced its Graduate Development Program (GDP). Nelson Julio, a participant in the 2024 cohort, shared his experience of rotating roles every six months. Although adapting to entirely new responsibilities can be challenging and sometimes stressful for fresh graduates, he noted that the intensive learning experience is highly valuable. 淚n my view, this program is very beneficial. Whenever I encounter difficulties, senior colleagues are always ready to guide me so I can learn how to overcome them, Julio said.
He further explained that, beyond mentorship, the rotational system encourages participants to be more proactive in asking questions and exploring different perspectives. One of his most rewarding experiences was seeing a project he developed from the ground up grow and deliver tangible impact for the company. 淣ever hesitate to take opportunities. During my time in college, I often doubted myself and missed many chances, he recalled.
An inspiring account also came from Edric Boby Tri Raharjo, a Data Science Technology student at FTMM UNAIR who successfully secured an internship at SPX Express. He emphasized that while academic knowledge is important, passing the selection process ultimately depends on determination and a willingness to continuously learn. 淚f you truly want to succeed, you will dedicate your time and effort to it, so keep working through the cases and continue learning, Raharjo concluded.
