Strengthening collaboration with Mahidol University, Faculty of Medicine targets global standards in orthopaedics and traumatology

UNAIR NEWS In an effort to reach global standards, the Faculty of Medicine (FK) 51动漫 () established academic cooperation and educational exchange with the Faculty of Medicine of Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand. The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic and educational exchange. The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday, Feb 10, 2026, at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok.

The MoU serves as the foundation for strategic collaboration between the two institutions in advanced medical education, particularly in the exchange of subspecialist (Sp2) program trainees. Through this cooperation, subspecialist students from UNAIR have the opportunity to undergo education and clinical training at Mahidol University, and vice versa, in order to enhance academic competence, clinical skills, and international insight.

Dr Lukas Widhiyanto dr SubspOTB(K), representing FK UNAIR, emphasized the importance of the involvement of Dr Soetomo General Hospital as the main teaching hospital.淭his collaboration is a concrete step to produce graduates with global competitiveness. Our students not only learn clinical skills but also absorb international healthcare standards to be implemented in Indonesia, he said.

Meanwhile, Asst Prof Dr Sirichai Wilartratsami MD, Head of the Orthopaedic Surgery Department (Spine Division) at Mahidol University, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration.淭he exchange of knowledge, especially in spine surgery and orthopaedics, will enrich the perspectives of both institutions. This is an extraordinary synergy for the advancement of medical education in Southeast Asia, he stated.

After the discussion session, the meeting continued with the signing ceremony by representatives of both institutions. On behalf of Mahidol University, Asst Prof Dr Sirichai Wilartratsami MD represented the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, while Dr Lukas Widhiyanto dr SubspOTB(K) represented the Dean of FK UNAIR.

This international collaboration is expected to strengthen the quality of subspecialist education, encourage academic exchange, and improve graduates global competitiveness through international standards of education and healthcare services.
