UNAIR NEWS Being admitted to a dream university is a proud achievement, especially when shared with a twin sibling. This was the experience of Carissa Elvina Angela and Callista Elysia Angela, who were both been accepted as new students in the English Language and Literature program at the Faculty of Humanities, 51动漫 (UNAIR), through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP).

Different learning approaches

Callista explained that she prefers studying through discussion. She believes this method is effective because it allows others to correct her when she makes mistakes. 淚 really like it when someone can point out and correct what I say when I檓 wrong, she said.

In contrast, Carissa said she is more comfortable studying independently. According to her, studying alone helps her maintain focus. 淲hen I study with friends, we often end up chatting and getting distracted from the task, she explained.

Balancing academics and extracurricular activities

Despite their busy schedules, both remained active beyond the classroom. Carissa and Callista participated in several extracurricular activities and were part of the student council. 淐allista is very active in organizations. She served as student council president in 10th grade and vice president in 11th grade. As for me, I檓 more interested in sports, so I joined the volleyball club, Carissa said.

Importance of strategy

Both emphasized that having a strategy is essential for success in the SNBP pathway. They also highlighted the importance of understanding one檚 strengths and limitations when pursuing academic goals. 淎t first, we wanted to major in Communication Studies, but then we explored other options. Eventually, we found English Language and Literature and thought it would be a good fit. We also enjoy English, so we decided to give it a try, Carissa explained.

Furthermore, Callista stressed the importance of having a backup plan. According to her, preparing alternatives does not mean being pessimistic, but rather staying prepared for different outcomes. 淲e consistently focus on studying the fields we are interested in, she added.
