UNAIR NEWS Heribertus Agustinus B. Tena, widely known as Officer Hery, is a shining example of (UNAIR) alumni who demonstrate that meaningful public service can thrive, even in the country檚 most remote areas. A graduate of UNAIR檚 Master檚 program in Forensic Science, Officer Hery currently serves with the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in East Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), a region classified among the nation’s 3T areas攄isadvantaged, frontier, and outermost.
For his ongoing dedication and impactful service, Officer Hery recently received an award from the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police. The honor recognized his contributions not only in law enforcement but also in bringing meaningful social change to the local community.
淭his recognition affirms my commitment both as a police officer and as a UNAIR graduate. It encourages me to continue contributing positively to our country檚 progress through my profession, he said.
Humanitarian outreach through social service
Serving in an area marked by limited infrastructure and resources, Officer Hery has led several community-focused initiatives. He believes that police officers should be more than law enforcers攖hey should be agents of hope for the public they serve.

Officer Hery also acknowledged that his time at UNAIR played a key role in shaping his mindset and approach to public service. He is grateful for having received practical, real-world education that continues to guide him in the field.
淢y education at UNAIR helped expand my worldview. I apply what I learned to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the public. I want the police to be a source of comfort攏ot fear, he said.
