UNAIR NEWS A team from the Faculty of Medicine () 51动漫 () secured first place in the Minerva Health Competition (MHC), part of the MINERFA 2025 Medical Competition and Fair of Anatomy and Physiology. Held from Friday to Sunday, November 14 to 16, 2025, the event provided a national platform for students to showcase their academic capabilities and potential.
The UNAIR delegation comprised three FK students: Deva Fitra Firdausa Anwar, Edward Timothy Setio, and Kaleb Stanfier Hewis. The team advanced through an internal selection process organized by the FK Student Executive Board (BEM KM FK) beginning in April 2025, before traveling to Padang to compete against representatives from 18 medical faculties across the country.
Speaking on behalf of the team, Anwar said their motivation to join the competition had developed over time. 淭his is my final year in the preclinical stage, and I wanted to close my Olympiad journey with a meaningful experience outside Java, in Padang, he said. He added that the opportunity to engage with peers from other medical schools was another key incentive.
Preparation and academic support prove decisive
Although intensive preparation began only a month before the competition, the team relied on their prior experience in previous medical Olympiads. Rather than adopting a specialized approach, they focused on regular group discussions and utilized internationally recognized learning platforms. 淪ince this was one of many competitions we have participated in during our preclinical years, the material was relatively manageable for us. We mainly conducted routine reviews of anatomy and physiology, Anwar said.
To address the highly detailed nature of MHC questions, the team concentrated on familiarizing themselves with Olympiad-style problem patterns and deepening their understanding through in-depth study of comprehensive textbooks. Anwar also highlighted the importance of institutional support. 淪upport from the university was essential, particularly from BEM KM and our faculty mentors, who guided us in preparing for anatomy practicums, he said.
Mental strength as a key advantage
Anwar emphasized that the team檚 strength lay in their competitive experience. 淥ur experience made us more prepared to handle the pressure during the competition, he said. He noted that the experience reinforced an important lesson: success depends not only on subject mastery but also on maintaining mental composure under pressure.
He concluded by expressing hope that their achievement would inspire future cohorts. 淚 hope this experience can be passed on to junior students, so that FK UNAIR檚 tradition of excellence continues at both the national and international levels, he said.
