UNAIR NEWS has been ranked #401-500 in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings. UNAIR檚 first-ever achievement in the regional THE ranking was assessed by five main indicators, Teaching (30%), Research (30%), Citations (30%), International Outlook (7.5%), and Industry Income (2.5%). The indicators were also applied in THE World University Rankings but with different weighings.
After being announced on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 18.00 Western Indonesian Time in Nagoya Marriott Hotel Japan, the result showed UNAIR檚 advancement from several indicators. The Head of UNAIR SDGs Center Bayu Arie Fianto SE MBA PhD stated that UNAIR has achieved the highest score in the Industry Income indicator by 36.5.
淚ndustry Income referred to research fund collected from industries in the form of matching fund, grants, and other cooperation schemes, he said on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
Besides, Bayu also stated that the other highest indicator was Citations, with score of 18.3. It is better than Universitas Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology, and Universitas Gadjah Mada.
淭he enormous support and the research focus shift become the main factors of quantity and quality improvement in UNAIR research, it indirectly improves UNAIR檚 number of citations, he explained.
According to the five indicators, UNAIR successfully scored 20.9-24.8 alongside the other six universities in Indonesia, which achieved the same group rank and score. Bayu added that apart from THE Asia University Rankings, UNAIR was also shortlisted in THE Asia Awards 2022.
淯NAIR was a nomination in the Excellence and Innovation in the Arts category, he said.
The other seven universities in the same category are University of Basrah (Iraq), Lahore University of Management Sciences (Pakistan), Lasalle College of the Arts (Singapore), Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences (India), Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia), Telkom University (Indonesia), and Vishwakarma University (India).
In the end, Bayu said that UNAIR檚 dedication to contributing to the sociocultural field through an innovative and adaptive program becomes the main background for UNAIR檚 achievement in the award category nominations. UNAIR檚 next goal, he continued, is to maintain consistency and improve the quality of education, research, and community services.
淧lanning the program by considering the social benefits, multidisciplinary involvement, and social resilience could be a wise step taken. Generally, UNAIR檚 achievements in the regional ranking system of THE Asia University Rankings 2022 and THE Asia Awards are the result of the hard work of all UNAIR academics and stakeholders, as well as be the trigger for changes towards better achievements, he concluded.
