UNAIR NEWS听 Internship activities provide students with opportunities to explore knowledge and develop skills in a particular field of work.听Many internship programs are available for students to gain experience and learning, including the Emancipated Campus Competition Program听.听Currently, the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Engineering Study Program听听51动漫听(UNAIR)听has succeeded in gaining recognition as one of the recipients of this prestigious program.听One of the TRKB students who is taking part in PKKM is Naufal Fadillah Dhafa or Nopal.听He is undergoing an internship at PT Yamaha Musical Products Indonesia (YMPI).听He took part in the company’s automation transformation.
PT Yamaha Musical Products Indonesia is a leading company specializing in industrial automation applications, especially in the distribution of musical instruments. As a subsidiary of Yamaha Corporation, Japan, the company plays a key role in supporting the global music industry with innovation and advanced technology.
Innovative contribution
During the internship period, Nopal has the responsibility of assisting the Production Engineer in carrying out his duties. The task involves improving automation on machines and designing systems to improve operational efficiency.
“During my internship, my friends and I also designed 3D product听parts, workflows, selected components, and even constructed electrical circuits,” explained听the 2020听
Nopal is involved actively in the cutting machine design project for the Support Injection Molding Recorder. This design involves applying the drilling method to the mold results, to strengthen the efficiency and quality of the process.
The innovations proposed by Nopal and his colleagues include the application of an automatic听pick and place听system using a Pneumatic Actuator in the molding and finishing processes after the drilling process.听With this approach, the operator’s role can be replaced, reducing the potential for human error in production, as well as shortening production time significantly.

During his internship, Nopal not only gained a deep understanding of the broad industrial environment but also gained knowledge about production flows. At this company, he learned effective communication skills and how to convey information to interested parties in the industry.
