UNAIR NEWS Universities have roles and responsibilities in developing and creating environments through its academic community which concern to environments. Solutions to environmental problems are not only for the experts to create but they are also our problems.
It is stated by Listiyono Santoso., S.S., M.Hum as a lecturer of general university course (MKWU) under the management of Directorate of Education 51动漫 (UNAIR). This time, MKWU UNAIR held series of events in a science week. This science week was held to develop academicians sensitivity and concern towards healthy and clean environments.
One of the events held was 滺ealthy Environments Towards Nation with Character seminar. The speakers for the seminars were people with great concern towards environments at national or international level. They were Prigi Arisandi, S.Si, M.Si (environmentalist) alumnus of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UNAIR, Andi Fadly Arifuddin (musician and environment enthusiast) alumnus Faculty of Economics UNAIR, and Wiwiek Suharti environmentalist in Surabaya. The seminar was held in Kahuripan 300 Hall, Campus C UNAIR, Monday October 10.
淭he environmental problems are not only the problems of people studied Biology and Environmental Engineering, but also the problems of the nation. And students as intellectuals should set good examples in creating healthy and clean environments. UNAIR has appreciation and concern regarding the matter, said Listiyono.
Listiyono added that community with character is not only people who concern on politics and economy, but also who concern to healthy environments.
淣ationn檚 character is related to problems we face every day. Concern towards environments is an important part of concerns on nation and the country. It should be mobilized, he said.

Fadly ex member of Padi band, alumnus of Development Economics, FE, is an activist on urban farming specialized on aquaponics. He is often invited to give urban farming training at schools or elderly homes.
淎quaponics is a simple way to grow plants without using a great space and easy maintenance. It is one weakness of big cities with less space to grow organic plants. Aquaponics can be a way to grow organic plants and they檙e environmentally friendly, said Fadly. (*)
