UNAIR NEWS “Rector of 51¶¯Âþ Prof. Moh. Nasih and Alumni Association (IKA UA) held analumnigatheringin Jakarta on Sunday, October 10.The gathering ofalumni was attended by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) RI Ignatius Jonan who is also an alumnus of Faculty of Economics UNAIR.
The gatheringheld at Graha STR Building, Jakarta, was attended by no less than 70 alumni UNAIR.Most of them serve as HRDs in companies spread throughout Indonesia.
In addition to strengthening the relationship and increasingawareness ofalumni at the alma mater, thegatheringwas aimed to get input from participants related to the preparation of UNAIR graduates career.
In the occasion, Rector Prof. Moh. Nasih invited alumni to contribute to the alma mater by participating in preparing the career of the graduates.He hoped that HRD officials can take part in improving the rank of UNAIR, both at national and international level.One of the contributions can be done by inviting alumni who have doctoral education to give guest lecture in UNAIR according to the field of their studies.
“The support of alumni has an impact on university rankings,” said Nasih.
Meanwhile, Jonan, alumnus of Accounting bachelor™s program UNAIR graduated in 1986 gave motivation to many participants while sharing experiences on his service as minister twice, namely Minister of Transportation and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.
He appreciated thealumnigatheringinitiated by IKA UA for providing motivation for alumni who already have important positions in the community to be more concerned with the alma mater.He also hoped, HRD leading companies can follow theAirlangga Career Fair which became the annual program of Career and Entrepreneurship Development Center (PPKK).
“Let’s together support university programs, to build this nation,” said Jonan.
Head of PPKK UNAIR Dr.Elly Munadziroh, MS, drg hopedthat this kind of alumnigatheringcan be done regularly and continuously.This is to improve alumni’s reputation as well as to get recognition at national and international level.
He also hoped that the alumni database is getting better and complete.This helps the university to map out alumni that have spread across the region and contribute to the alma mater.
General Secretary of IKA UA Dr.M. Budi Widajanto, Drs.Ec., M.P. said that thealumnigathering wasaimed to strengthen UNAIR connections with alumni.
“Hopefully UNAIR alumni spread in any position.Because the success of a college is on how many alumni work in government, state-owned companies, and private-owned companies, “said Budi.
In addition toalumnigathering, IKA UA is preparing a book review from Ahmad Cholis Hamzah entitledRenewal of Inspiration of the Nation.Furthermore, IKA UA is also working on the establishment of IKA UA in several regions in Indonesia, such as West Java, Yogyakarta, and Banten.(*)
