Explore the Potential of Kabat Banyuwangi Residents, UNAIR Students Hold Village Festival

UNAIR NEWSÌý“ students participating in 58th Thematic Community Service Program – Learning Together with the Community (KKN-BBM) in Kabat Sub-district, Banyuwangi Regency, held Kabat Fair Festival at Kabat Village Square, Kabat Sub-district, Banyuwangi Regency.The event taglined“Fourteen in One” and themed “Bring The Regional Potential” was followed by residents and village officials from 14 villages in Kabat sub-district as the location of 58th UNAIR Thematic KKN BBM.

The event was a realization of thebig projectinitiated by the UNAIR KKN Village Development Advisor (DP2D) in Kabat Sub-district.The series of events was begun on Wednesday morning, July 25.

The morning gymnastics followed by residents in Kabat sub-district started the event.Then, after the Kabat sub-district head opened the event, there was atalk showthemed “Reproductive Health of Villagers” with the Kabat Sub-district Community Health Center midwife.

Not only that, the event was also enlivened with the best yell and costume competitions with PKK women participants from each village.Participant assessment was carried out at the booth of each village.In the same place, PKK mothers sold food and handicraft products of the village.UNAIR students also displayed photos of activities during KKN in 14 villages in Kabat Sub-district.

In addition, the show was enlivened by the a patrol performance of Tambong Village.There was also alive paintingby an artist from Bunder Village accompanied by poetry readings by Bunder Village children.

Head of the Committee, Fitria Mustianingsih stated that Kabat Fair Festival was aimed to bring the potential of 14 villages in Kabat Sub-district, in the form of artistic and culinary potential.

“This event is also a place for students participating in 58th Thematic KKN BBM in 14 villages in Kabat Sub-district to explain the results of KKN conducted.As well as closing the KKN activities in Kabat Sub-district, Banyuwangi, “said the Biology student class 2015.

Meanwhile, Head of Kabat Sub-district Susanto Wibowo welcomed the organization of the event.The event, he continued, was expected to provide added value for the development of micro-economic (enterprises) UMKM in the village.

DP2D Representative of Kabat Jayanti Dian Eka Sari, revealed that the reason for the event was to foster solidarity through joint activities between citizens and students.In addition, the role and presence of UNAIR students was expected to bring significant changes in the community.

“Reflecting from previous years, the final activities of UNAIR student KKN can only be attended by certain people.So, there was no solidarity between students and society.Therefore, the people of Kabat and the local government this time is expected to feel the presence and role of UNAIR students even though only 25 days, ” she explained.

Jayanti revealed that public and government enthusiasm was very high.The local government proposed the event to be held every year.Because, the event brings a positive image for all parties especially the people of Kabat Sub-district.

“It’s a good event.UNAIR’s students facilitate the villagers to sell and get profit by providing tents for each village like this, “added the Head of Krajan, Hariyanto, who was also present at the event.(*)
