The community with Matoh Pol as their mottoconducted an activity titledSowan Saminwhich is held in Jepang, Margomulyo Village, Margomulyo Sub-district, Bojonegoro Regency on Friday, July 27.Sowan Samin was motivated by a desire to strengthen ties and know more about the local wisdom of Samin community, one of the tribes in Indonesia located in Bojonegoro area.
Hardjo Kardi the fourth descendant of Ki Samin Surosentiko said that Samin was not a tribe.He would rather call it a warrior.The struggle against the Dutch by refusing to pay tributes to them because it caused misery for the people.
The tactic of the Samin community was to deceive the Dutch, said Hardjo, by talking in a confusing way.Hardjo gave an example, when the Company asked the location of a house, the tribe of Samin would only answer ‘there’ without any additions or any signals.This method is a form of self-protection.
Samin Surosentiko descendants were spread in several regions in East Java and Central Java.The Central Java region includes Brebes, Pati, Rempang, Kudus and Blora while in East Java include Bojonegoro, Lamongan, Ngawi, and Madiun.
The main teaching of Samin community is about honesty.Every behavior must puts forwards honesty, because honesty leads towards better life.
“Mbah Hardjo made an analogy, like when we want to eat cassava, plant cassava.If you want rice, plant rice.The results can be enjoyed together.Do not eat or take cassava that is not the result of your plants.It’s the same as stealing.Stealing once you will stealing next, “Indra Pratama, Head of ABC recalled Hardjo’s message.
At the moment, Samin has headed for a modern, educated society, and is aware of the need for technology.It can be seen from the ownership of the motorbikes.Even so, they still adhere to manners by preserving arts.Next to Hardjo’s house is a Javanese pavilion complete with gamelan which is often used for dance training accompaniment.
The majority of Samin people have jobs as farmers with the results of cassava, rice and corn.
“After visiting the Samin community, as students and the people of Bojonegoro we realize that honesty is the main principle of life.For decades the Samin community has implemented life with honesty.Honesty was even used by Samin people as protection in the colonial era, “added the student of Political Sciences .
“What my friends I and can do next is to implement honesty in any action.At least it starts with ourselves.We should also respect and preserve the existing local wisdom because it is one of the national heritage, ” he concluded.(*)
