UNAIR NEWS “51¶¯Âþ () is one of State Universities as Legal Entity (PTN-BH) and it is expected by Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education to achieve top 500 world university rankings.One of the indicators to achieve it is the number ofdouble degreeprogramsorganized by UNAIR and partner universities abroad.
In order to follow up an agreement on adouble degree program,Faculty of Humanities (FIB) 51¶¯Âþ collaborates through Master of Literary and Cultural Studies with Southeast Asia and African Studies, Hamburg University, Germany.
To follow up the possibility of cooperation, FIB UNAIR sent two delegates, the head of Literary and Cultural Studies, Dr.Nur Wulan and Vice Dean I FIB Puji Karyanto, S.Hum, M.Hum.
“By going to Hamburg University,double degreeprogram between the Literary and Cultural Studies of FIB UNAIR with the Southeast Asia and African Studies of Hamburg University, will soon be realized.And, it can help UNAIR’s vision and mission to become in World Class UniversityRanking, “Puji said on Thursday, July 19.
For their visit in Germany, they had a discussion to establish the implementation ofdouble degreeas soon as possible.The discussion has concluded the final draft of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).They also gave general lecture in the university.
“I gave a general lecture on regional head election (ed) of East Java from cultural perspective, while Mrs. Nur Wulan gave a general lecture of masculinity in Indonesian literature,” said the lecturer who is also the supervisor of Student Activity Units (UKM) Teater Mata Angin.
In addition, this visit is a follow-up of Hamburg University’s visit to FIB in 2017.There were two Hamburg University students who studied at FIB UNAIR in 2017.Then, there was avisiting professor, Van der Putten to give a general lecture at FIB.
The aim of the programs is to increase the number of student exchanges of FIB UNAIR with Hamburg University.So the students can obtain a degree from UNAIR and Hamburg University.
“As alumni, they will be more competitive in the global market for having a double degree and improve the university rankings. The students can go there to study according to the duration specified,” added Puji.
Puji was impressed with the atmosphere during his stay at Hamburg University.
“It’s very good there, because its ranking is far above UNAIR, which is the world’s top 200.There are many potentials for example, by working with research centers of Southeast Asian and African studies, “Puji said.
Beyond the task of the visit, Puji said he was amazed by the effectiveness of institutional governance at Hamburg University.“The people perform effectively at work,” said Puji.(*)
