UNAIR Psychology Student Performs Klana Mask Traditional Dance in Korea

UNAIR NEWS – Unexpectedly, Anindya Endah Cahyaningrum檚 love for arts brought a students of Psychology Faculty of Psychology 51动漫 to fly to South Korea. The seventh semester student had the opportunity to attend the program organized by ISCEF (Indonesian Student Cultural and Education Foundation), July 10-14, 2018 at Seoul National University.

In the event of Indonesia and South Korea entitled 4thInternational Cultural Exchange: Immersing the Culture and Experiencing the Exchange, Ningrum proved her expertise in dancing.Performing Klana Mask dance from Cirebon, the Surabaya native amazed others with her dancing skill.

In addition to Ningrum, there are 6 other students who became representatives of Indonesia in this event, two students from Bali, one student from Palembang, four students from Merauke.

”The audiencewas very appreciative.They are very concerned about the performances presented.They are veryexcited towitness the traditional arts of Indonesia, ” she said.

The dance Ningrum performed tells about the anger, greed, and vices that exist in man.This dance reflects the human condition that is dominated by the bad side existing in self.

“I usually perform a dance about beauty, like the beauty of women or the beauty of nature.But this time, I want to show something with a moralvaluethat can be conveyed to theaudience, ” she added.

On that occasion, the Indonesian delegation presented traditional Indonesian arts,story telling, poetry, and traditional dances.The event was witnessed by students and lecturers from the Department of Music, Seoul National University.After the performance of Indonesian arts, there were traditional music performances from students of Seoul National University.In addition to the art performance, there was also atour to some iconic places and get to know the culture of Seoul.

Although she is used to dancing, Ningrum wasnervousfor performing a dance that was unusual for her to perform.Her expertise brought sweetness because it gets a positive response from the students there.

For Ningrum, another interesting experience in Seoul was performing the dance with a mask.Theaudiencewas surprised at first to see a creepy mask behind the fabric covering her face.

In addition, in Seoul, Ningrum had the opportunity to perform in front of tourists.

“Coming back from Seoul, I hope the spirit to learn Indonesian traditional arts is even higher, having the opportunity to bring traditional Indonesian arts to other countries, as well as more Indonesian children learning the culture of Indonesia,” added Ningrum.(*)
