UNAIR NEWS – The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs held Nusantara Jaya Expedition (ENJ) 2017. With “Conducting Community Service on 3T (Outermost, Remote and Disadvantaged) islands as a theme, the activity was held for 20 days.From 25 September to 14 October.
For those who want to join, many channels can be taken, from the channel of school students, college students, to youth path.For students in public universities, including UNAIR, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs opened a special channel.
Responding to these activities, UNAIR conducted a selection of 25 participants before they are eligible to represent and join the UNAIR team in ENJ 2017. The ENJ UNAIR team 2017 will carry out community service on several islands such as Mandangin Island, Sampang Regency, and Masakambing Island and Masalembu Island, Sumenep Regency.
In the expedition, the team coordinated by Anca Laika took the big theme “SDGs or Sustainable Development Goals”.The orientation of the activity is in line with the SDG programs in education, social, to the economy.
In the field of education, they carried out several activities such as the class of honesty, inspiration, nationalism, and campus expos.Social aspect was in the form of donation, developing youth organization and participated in social program from village officials.Furthermore, in the economic field, the team sought to empower communities through optimizing local potentials to gain value and introduce sound financial management.
During the 3rd expedition, ENJ UNAIR 2017 team spent three weeks there.They got valuable stories and experiences that will not be obtained in college, such as serving in an area with no signal for several weeks to find Indonesia in the midst of the island community.

“Things are not much different we met.The local people welcome us warmly even though we are foreigners who come from sparkling urban, “said one participant.
In fact ENJ is not an ordinary expedition, and it is not a tour.It is an expedition that can open wide the eyes of the nation’s children that the archipelago is of regions with potentials.On the other hand, the attention of the youth is still very minimal. Indonesia can be found in islands far from the hustle and bustle of a city.
