UNAIR NEWS – The Dean of Faculty of Medicine (FK ) UNAIR, Prof.Dr. Soetojo. Sp.U explained that his unit is ready to support new policy of government about medical specialist supply to rural areas.
淚 agree that the placement of medical specialists should be managed. There must be even distribution throughout Indonesia. Now, there are more specialists in the big cities, meanwhile in rural area there are much less. They are reluctant to go to the remote area he said.
It was stated in the specific visit of House of Representatives IX Commission to 51动漫, on Friday (24/3). The visit discussed about the readiness of medical education institution and policy makers in responds of president regulation number 4 year 2017 about the medical specialist compulsory practice (WKDS).
Soetojo said that Faculty of Medicine UNAIR has produced competent doctors to provide health care for society. 淲e are ready. It is medical education institution檚 job to prepare medical specialists to work anywhere. We have already done that, Soetojo said.
The head of Internal Medicine department of FK UNAIR, Dr. Poernomo Boedi, Sp.PD, K-GEH, supported Soetojo檚 statement that FK UNAIR has informed to the graduands about the policy and facilities for medical specialist joining WKDS.
淩egarding competence, we don檛 change anything. We teach internal medicine specialist to be able to practice in the assigned places. Our graduates are ready to work at Grade B hospital. That檚 the standard, Poernomo said.
The Vice Rector I Prof. Djoko Santoso, Ph.D., dr., Sp.PD, K-GH said that in 2016 FK UNAIR had graduated 18 specialists of anesthesia and reanimation, 7 specialists of surgeon, 17 specialist of pediatrics, 32 specialists of internal medicine, and 18 specialists of obstetrics and gynecology.
Previously, the president of Republic Indonesia Joko Widodo issued President Regulation number 4 year 2017 about Medical specialist compulsory practice. The regulation is for medical specialists who are graduated after 4th January 2017. Moreover, government will provide incentives from Rp 20 million to Rp 80 million for the medical specialists who do the practice in 144 chosen hospitals for WKDS.
