UNAIR NEWS High cost of medical instruments has made some doctors of Faculty of Medicine (FK) 51动漫 innovate and create their own instruments with more affordable price. Their innovations do not have less quality than the manufactured ones.
Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation FK UNAIR -RSUD Dr. Soetomo has registered 7 Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI), 2 patents and 5 copyrights protected by the Law.
The seven registered HAKI were for simulator of Peripheral Nerve Block (PNB) injection with Ultrasonographic Guiding to know the nervous anatomy, LED light modification, Audiovisual recording device Laryngoscope connectable to gadget, LCD and Laptop. Simulation device of video laryngoscope with three different specifications, Cinematographic Work of Video Laryngoscope Tutorial, and also Cinematographic Work of Basic Life Support Video Tutorial.
From those seven HAKI, the interesting one is simulation device of Video Laryngoscope invented by Soni Sunarso Sulistiawan, dr., SpAn.FIPM., Dr. Christrijogo Sumartono, dr.,SpAn.,KAR., and Bambang Pujo Semedi, dr, SpAn. KIC.
ToUNAIR NEWS, Soni claimed that this Video Laryngoscope is a less expensive instrument with sophistication equal to the manufactured one. It is useful for service and education activity.
This laryngoscope video can help the process of intubation in difficult condition. In medical dictionary, intubation is inserting a tube into the windpipe. It is often related with endotracheal tube inserted to the mouth or nose into the trachea to ensure the air way and improve the respiration.
淰ideo Laryngoscope can also be used for laryngoscopy or medical treatment which enables anesthesiologist to see the condition of vocal chords to prevent injury caused by intubation, he said.
This device can also record audio and visual during the process of laryngoscopy . The audiovisual can feed can be monitored through computers or smartphones, so it can also functions as livestreaming and education documentation. Automatically, it can be saved as a file and saved in the computer or smartphones.
淥ur video laryngoscope is limited in use and very expensive. We need an instrument which functions as supporting service but also as learning instrument. And this instrument is the answer, as it can be used to deal with difficult cases and record audiovisual for learning, he said.
The size of the blade available are from no 4 for adult patients with overweight to size 00 which was used in the infant intubation of neonatal premature weighs over 1000g. He said that laryngoscope that size is difficult to find in the market.
The recording can help anesthesiology department to perform evaluation of intubation skill to each student during learning process. 淲e can learn that this device work very well and replaces the function of manufactured videolaryngoscope which costs more, he said.
Beside Videolaryngoscope, there was also Peripheral Nerve Block (PNB) injection simulator with Ultrasonographicc guiding to understand the nervous anatomy. This device is useful for educational process of intervention skill with USG guiding.
Interestingly, Soni and his team of Anesthesiology and Reanimation FK UNAIR who patented Cinematographic Work for basic Life Support. It is a short film on the importance if first aid to heart attack emergency.
淲e do not know when people die and disaster can happen anytime. Therefore, the roles of people is needed as the safety is determined by the first response and resuscitation, he said.
Through the film, Soni encouraged all elements of people to support and give BLS (Basic Life Support) through heart resuscitation and call for help so it success will be even higher. Medical therapy success depends on the initial response of the society, as early as possible when the heart stops. (*)
