UNAIR NEWS – The existence of waste can not be denied.In fact, the presence of waste also brings a negative impact for the community.Meanwhile, people are usually less sensitive to the piling garbage, they even tend to let it.
It has inspired the master students of community nursing held a community service in Dupak Village, Krembangan Sub-district, Surabaya.The event held on 21-22 October was themed “Introduction and Community Empowerment on Waste Bank Management”.
According to Rio Ady Erwansyah, S.Kep as the person in charge of the event, the service was a form of Higher Education Tri Dharma.Furthermore, the waste was abundant and needs to be handled.“We want this abundant waste to be handled, especially by the people themselves.So, in this opportunity, we provide science of waste management with garbage bank, ” he said.
He explained, Dupak was chosen because it will serve as a pilot project area.“In this area, Batch 9 of master students have implemented their social service. So, we continue so that later on it can serve as a pilot project,” he said.
The event was attended by representatives of 21 RT, representatives of officials, lecturers of Faculty of Nursing, and Director of Surabaya Garbage Bank (BSIS).“Today there will be presentations from representatives of community nursing master students and director of Surabaya Garbage Bank (BSIS).Then, tomorrow we practice and go directly to every RT, “he continued.
Rio added, the garbage bank will be bought by BSIS and it can be used as a mean of PLN payment.
“So, the garbage collected in the garbage bank will be sorted out, then BSIS will buy it,” he said.(*)
