UNAIR NEWS 揅ulture is the identity of every nation that needs to be preserved. The Indonesian youth need to keep the culture alive. One of the evidence that has been done by the students of Literature of Indonesia, Faculty of Humanity, 51动漫, attended seminar themed Antara Wayang, Museum, dan Pendidikan Karakter Bangsa at Museum Mpu Tantular Sidoarjo, East Java.
The event held on October 20 2017, was visited by students who concentrated in the field of culture along with their lecturers. At this seminar, the speakers of the seminar were Ki Sinarto serves as dalang wetan and Prof. Dr. Joko Saryono serve as lecturer of postgraduate faculty at the State University of Malang. At the beginning of the event, the seminar session presented by Joko, which explains the philosophical value of the story in Javanese wayang plays.
In his explanation, Joko stated that the puppet gives a picture of the fair play of human life with all its problems that hold the values of life view in overcoming all challenges and difficulties. In wayang Plays, in addition to provide moral and aesthetics, there are values of the Javanese view of life. Academician of State University of Malang said, through wayang, people discovered about the views and attitudes in determining policies to overcome life challenges.
In accordance with the theme, the speaker revealed that the story of puppet always contains the value of education. Therefore, wayang can be used as a medium to change the behavior or attitude of a person in maturing human beings. The story of wayang is not only one source of the search for values for the survival of society, but also the place or educational tool.
“Wayang is the masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage of humanity. In other words, wayang is world cultural heritage that has been proclaimed by UNESCO on November 7, 2003. And, of course must be kept it alive “said Joko.
Furthermore, Ki Sinarto said that culture should not be intertwined with religion. There is no religious doctrine in cultural preservation. “If we talk about culture, do not bring religion to be connected. Just look at the culture in terms of culture. Because, if still seen as one, will emerge a debate that never ends, “said Ki Sinarto.
In addition, to the next generation, he told the existence and preservation of culture in Indonesia is in the hands of the youth. The destruction or preservation of Indonesian culture depends on the attitude and actions of the holder.
At the end of the seminar, Joko revealed that in the history of the development of the wayang world, innovations continue to be perpetrators of culture, from previous kings to the heirs of the culture, namely the puppeteers. The presence of innovation that enrich the puppet theater for a nation that has a cultural character.
Therefore, an innovation is so important that it should be focused on maintaining the values of local wisdom in Indonesia. Furthermore, culture can be the main fence of the nation defenses that would become the nation guidance in creating artwork. (*)
