Prof. Dr. Suwarno

UNAIR NEWS The secretary of ADPRC Prof. Dr. Suwarno was optimistic that the research center will successfully contribute in the community because in principle, the research has been conducted for years.

The idea of ADPRC has been around for quite a while. A research in the scope of human, animal and environmental disease was also already conducted. However, ADPRC existence will expand the researchers experience.

So far the research center has conducted research on six strategic diseases which make people worry on a global level, Anthrax, Rabies, Avian Influenza, Leptospirosis, plague or black death and Brucellosis.

So far, the research focused on three items, Rabies, Avian Influenza, and Brucellosis. But it does not mean that the other three were neglected. With ADPRC, all of them will be studied deeply and continuously.

The base is education, equipments and experiences. We just need to work it out and maintain it continuously, said Suwarno.

So far, UNAIR researchers are known from their success of avian virus. Even many of the experts have the experience and acknowledged by international level.

Furthermore, brucellosis problem that happen to the cow, also have negative effect to human, especially in East Java and other province because the province is the best meat producer in Indonesia.

This disease can bring systemic impact as it is related to pregnancy failure or miscarriage. The cow breeder farmers often become the victims. (*)
