UNAIR NEWS 揚aracetamol is one type of most common drug for fever reducer or pain reliever. It sold unlimited because it is a free drug (without prescription) and that is way many people consider paracetamol is safe for use.
In fact, although it kind of free drug, it can be used carelessly. Too high dose of paracetamol can cause liver damage. It because over paracetamol can hardly be metabolized by liver, so it leads to free radical. The high level of free radical in body can cause damage of organs, especially liver.
By the problem, five students of 51动漫 who are Agesti Veva, Kukuh Prastyaningtyas, Annisa Normalita, Dhanar Adhitya, Rachmad Yusuf found antioxidant from Rosella flower as free radical reducer of too high paracetamol.
“The high content of phenolytic compounds in Rosella flowers is efficacious in reducing high free radical levels in high dose paracetamol use,” said Agesti Veva, the leader of the team.
This idea has been written on research proposal of Student Creativity Program pf Exacta Research (PKM-PE) and succeeded get grant from Kemenristekdikti for PKM 2016 2017. Most Indonesians have lack of understanding about the right paracetamol use, it made Agesti Veva and friends attempted finding the solution then they found natural antioxidant as anti-free radical which can cause liver damage. 淚ndonesians today still don檛 understand about the adverse effect of high free radical in body, so dangerous, Agesti said
According to her, high free radical in body can damage organs through oxidation with cell membrane and the most affected organ is liver.

Annisa said that this research was conducted at Faculty of Veterinary 51动漫 by applying to Rattus norvegicus strain wistar The following step is it was inducted by paracetamol and treated with extract of Rosella Flowers Petal, the research result showed that there was significant reduction of free radical.
