UNAIR NEWS –Lecturer of Faculty of Law 51动漫 Dr.R. Herlambang Perdana Wiratraman, SH, MA, has made another achievement at international level.After working in the field of Law and Human Rights (HAM) for 14 years, this lecturer from Jember continues to apply his knowledge both in the field of academics and community service.
On Wednesday, December 22, Herlambang was informed by Millagros Arguelles of Equitas, the Human Rights Institute based in Montreal Canada as one of the fifty inspirational leaders on human rights.Previously, Herlambang received Ashoka award when he was 25 years old.
”听Alhamdulillah, I am grateful.I feel that this is the result of many synergies of academic colleagues with many parties.It is also significant for academic colleagues at the Center for Human Rights Law FH .They interact, initiate, develop cooperation, legal education and human rightsvoluntarily.Our capital is solidarity, so our activities never stops.So this Equitas achievement and recognition is an encouragement of academic climate that continues to be meaningful in society, ” he said.
Asked about the efforts for the award, the Head of Human Rights Law Studies (HRLS) FH UNAIR said that it cannot be separated from the role of academics in carrying out the Higher Education Tri Dharma through the center of study.
“We developed a curriculum, quality reading material, and the development of teaching methods.In Southeast Asia, we have created a human rights education book for Southeast Asian students.These materials can be accessed for free through SEAHRN website.In addition, we also develop collaborative research,visiting lectures, workshops on learning methods development through conferences, seminars, and others, ” said one of the founders of Indonesian Society of Human Rights Teachers.
After getting this award, Herlambang did not feel complacent.Recently UNAIR has made a new history by making the principles of Surabaya for Academic Freedom.Herlambang along with other academic networks aspire to build intellectual power to guard the changes to the better, deal with corrupt practices more straightforwardly, dare not to submit to corporations and disciplines that threaten the academic freedom.
“Of course this is long and mutual work.I am grateful, UNAIR gives us space and opportunity to innovate, develop research with more imaginative methods for better changes.Hopefully this path can continue to strengthen the dreams of change, not for me or us, but for the citizens of Indonesia.InshaAllah, ” he asserted.
