Hospitality Management Students Skill Improved

UNAIR NEWS – Third semesters students of three year vocational (Diploma -3) Program in Hospitality Management of Faculty of Vocational Studies 51动漫 conducted field practice at Grand Darmo Hotel on Wednesday, November 29.This field practice is part of the skillsimprovement they gain from the curriculum applied at Faculty of Vocational Studies.

Dian Yulie Reindrawati Ph.D as Head of Hospitality Management D-3 Program said that students must be able to align their capabilities, not only to absorb knowledge in the lectures, but also to apply knowledge in the field. These soft skillsare part of the effort to create human resources that are competitive and have high skill.

“Current absorption of D-3 Hospitality Management graduates can be up to 70%, with the unemployment range can be 0-3 months after yudisium,” said Dian.

The implementation of this field practice is done by the cooperation of Faculty of Vocational Studies with Grand Darmo Hotel. This practice is also part of Tata Graha course that students must take.

The practice of 64 students was divided into two days.In previous years, the practice was only done in the campus environment. But this year, the practice is done directly at the hotel so that students can feel directly working in the field.

“The testing is now done in hotels. It was held in campus then. This enables students to know the real hotel development, “said Abduh, the event’s chief executive.

To align itself with the market demand, soft skillsandhard skillsmust be owned by students in order to compete.Hotel service continues to grow year by year. The rapid development of the era requires hotels to be able to adjust with market demand. This will also affect all hotel staffs.

“This kind of practice will improve students’ ability. In addition to knowing clearly the real world of hospitality, they can also build a network with the hotel, “added Abduh.

The current challenge lies in the employee paradigm of the hotel. The work in the hotel environment is still often considered as 渉elper compared to the workers in the institution.Tourism improvement in Indonesia will provide opportunities for the world of hospitality.

“Prospects for the future will continue to be improved as the government has commitment to increase the country’s foreign exchange from tourism,” said Afi Wijayanti as a lecturer in field practice.

“This is a potential for Hospitality Management students to take the opportunity and contribute to develop the world of Indonesian tourism,” she said.(*)
