UNAIR NEWS– Olive oil檚 excellence has long been popular. While it is good for health, olive oil is also excellent in keeping beauty. Yet, those are not its only superiorities. Recently, a research proved that olive oil is also very powerful in killing MRSA bacterium. This bacterium cannot be killed by any antibiotics.
Dr. Agung Dwi Wahyu Widodo, dr., M.Si, through his research succeeded in proving the invention. To UNAIR NEWS, Agung explained, he used ozonized olive oil in his research.
淧eople so far know that olive oil is good for health, but not for bacterium. Therefore I tried to prove it by comparing the quality of ordinary olive oil with ozonized one, and the result was indeed different, he explained.
Ozonization is a simple technology using special technological tools. In the process, oil is channeled through a cylinder, followed by high temperature ozonization as high as 3000 degrees. Such treatment is used so that oil will react and produce new substance.
淭hrough quite a long observation, it turns out that after being ozonized, its element started to change which in the end produces a component called dalethyne. It檚 this dalethyne which kills parasite and bacterium, he explained.
To prove it, Agung compared the quality of ordinary olive oil and ozonized olive oil repeatedly.
淚 tried using the ordinary olive oil to kill parasite, and it failed. If it can檛 kill parasite, then it檚 impossible to kill MRSA bacterium. Then I tried to use ozonized olive oil, and the result was different. MRSA bacterium perished, as well as other parasite, he exposed.
Agung started his research in 2016. He did the research because of a client檚 wish called Kayapan Satya Darsan from India. Darsan was the founder of ozonized olive oil technique, while Agung is a Microbiology researcher at the Faculty of Medicine 51动漫 whom Darsan trusted to research further ozonized olive oil potentials.
淚 was motivated to do the research due to pak Darsan檚 high curiosity about the product. Can olive oil kill parasite? he explained.
From then on, the holder of Travel Award for Young Scientist, Awaji Internastional Forum for Infection and Immunity, Osaka University, Japan in 2009-2010-2012 started his 榓dventure at laboratory desks. After three research tests on animals and was proven that it could kill parasite, Agung then continued his research to MRSA bacterium, and it was proven on a test he did on animals.
淒arsan asked me to do a further research on MRSA bacterium. Because MRSA has become a worldwide case at the moment. The herbal expert funds the research. Because initially it succeeded only in in-vitro level, I continued it to animals. And it was proven, MRSA bacterium perished after ozonized olive oil was applied, he explained.
Since it was a valuable invention, the Doctoral Program best graduate in immunology was optimistic his research result could soon be able to be used for the benefit of community, especially penniless MRSA infected patients.
In spite of the fact that olive oil has to yet be imported, Agung was optimistic it wouldn檛 jeopardize production cost, considering the research process was done at FK UNAIR. The production process is likewise done completely in Indonesia.
To simplify the distribution of the product to the consumers, Agung planned to put ozonized olive oil in a simple container weighing 15 gram. The oil texture is similar to lip balm, which makes it practical and is spilled-out proof.
The FK UNAIR 揜SUD Dr. Soetomo檚Magister Program Coordinator claimed there was no additional chemical substance whatsoever in the product. The composition consisted of mixed natural oil such as sea butter or coconut butter.
Agung has enlisted his research product to Indonesia National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM RI) he is still waiting for the distribution permit certificate. Although he hasn檛 received his distribution permit from BPOM RI, the product has received its international distribution permit, such as Japan, India, Cambodia, Thailand, and England.
淭he research became a reference in India, but not in Japan. They are still doing a product research test and place it side by side with MRSA cases there. I檓 still waiting for the news, he revealed.
