Kominfo and UNAIR Give Scholarships for Communication Master Program

UNAIR NEWS Indonesian Communications and Information Ministry (Kominfo) in collaboration of is giving scholarships to civil servants to continue studies in Communication Master program. The scholarships are given after they are admitted in the university appointed by the Ministry.

It was elaborated by the coordinator of Media and Communication Master program, Dr. Santi Isnaini during interview with UNAIR News, on Wednesday (15/3). Santi said that there are seven universities appointed for this program, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Andalas, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and also UNAIR.

The recipients of this scholarship should not worry financial support as it includes tuition fees, operational cost and book allowance and the amount is adjusted with the duration of the study.

To get the scholarship, the student must be a civil servant of central or regional government agency, national military or police force who works in public relations and public information management. The applicant must not be older than 37 years old and he must have worked for two years for the government when applying for the scholarships.

The applicant must have permit from his superior with echelon three in his agency to continue study. He must not have master degree yet and is not studying in other institution.

淥ther requirements are made by each university. In UNAIR, we require the applicant to prepare their thesis proposal. It helps us to determine the thesis supervisor, she said.

Regarding the quota, every year UNAIR receives 10 15 applicants.

Since 2003, UNAIR was appointed by the Ministry of Communications and Information as partner for this scholarship. The lecturer of Department of Communication, FISIP UNAIR said that the graduates of the program are spread across Indonesia. Some of them are from East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, and South Sumatera.
