UNAIR NEWS Rapid technological development has changed the community character and behavior. It enables the public to get information but however, information can be a two-edge knife as there are fake news or known as hoaxes. This rapid development is not followed with the law enforcement.
淭he law is sometimes left behind by the technology, said the professor of Faculty of Law 51动漫 Prof. Dr. Didik Endro Purwoleksono, S.H., M.H.
Didik said that the existence of Electronic Information and Transaction (ITE) Law proved that Indonesia did not want to be left behind at information technology development, especially in preventing the abuse of information.
In Professor Innovation Exposition themed 淐ommunity Active Involvement Against Hoaxes in Social Media held by Information and Public Relations Center UNAIR on Thursday, March 16, Didik explained that law must be able to control the information development.
淭he role of law is shown in government political law. The state should not let people violate the other people檚 right. The law should be enforced to prevent conflict in the community, said Didik.
淓ven factual news which does not contain any hoaxes can be convicted. But if the corporations do it, they are not convicted, he said.
The expert of criminal law said that UU ITE has weaknesses. There should be articles which regulate the fine for corporations. Falsehood done by the corporation such as promising prizes to costumers can be convicted.
Regulations without law enforcement are useless. 淭he main key of implementing law enforcement is the enforcer檚 mentality, he explained.
Furthermore, the lecturer of Kapita Selekta Hukum Pidana encouraged the public to check and re-check any information they get. 淭he rapid the development of technology, the varied the crime. We must remain vigilant, he said.
