UNAIR NEWS– Learning is not only always in the classroom, economic cooperative seminars introduced practitioners and their various activities.This activity was initiated by Economic Development Student Cooperative (KOPMEP) in collaboration with Economics of Cooperative course entitled “Existence and Prospect of Cooperatives in Indonesian Economy” on Wednesday, October 18. As speakers, there were Achmad Rizadi, SE., MA, Institutional and Supervisory Division of Cooperatives and UKM Office of East Java and H. Masian Adi Djaja, SE., MM., QIA, Swadharma Cooperative Board member.
“Hopefully with this activity, the students will be able to know the cooperative practice so far, as well as its contribution to the economy of East Java,” said Rossanto Dwi Handoyo, SE, M.Si., Ph.D as Secretary of Economics Department in his speech.
Achmad said that cooperative is not very popular among millenial generation at this time.However, behind it continues to grow rapidly even penetrates into various sectors, such as Hospitals and Supermarkets.
“Based on the data, most of the cooperatives are consumption cooperatives. There are 353 student cooperatives, but there are only 22 new cooperatives with a certificate or Cooperative Official Number.So they are expected to manage and get the number, ” he explained.
Furthermore, Achmad pointed out that the cooperative has a large contribution to GDP, 3.99% and it keeps increasing from year to year.This is undoubted because most cooperatives have assets of more than 1 Billion.
The second speaker Masian explained that the nature of cooperative identity belongs to the members so that its contribution to the members becomes the main point.When members need help, it is its obligation to help.
Regardless of the circumstances, the Office of Cooperatives itself has made efforts to keep boosting cooperatives and entrepreneurship, ranging from product consulting services from Monday to Friday, to funding assistance for businesses that run 6 months.
“Every year there are 2500 enterprises that have been running 6 months to get aid 14 million for product and business development just by sending proposal,” he explained.
