UNAIR NEWS In order to improve scientific publication on mass media, Research and Innovation Institute (LPI) 51动漫 held writing workshop, on Friday, April 7. There were many lecturers and researchers of UNAIR attended the event which themed 淲orkshop of research product and critical thinking dissemination through publication on mass media
It was held at Plenary room 2nd floor, Kahuripan room, campus C UNAIR. The event was officially opened by head of LPI UNAIR Prof. Drs. Hery Purnobasuki, M.Sc., Ph.D. The speakers for the event were Agus Muttaqin, an editor of Jawa Pos, Drs.Bagong Suyanto, M.Si Sociologist and columnist from FISIP UNAIR and Badri Munir Sukoco, SE., MBA., Ph.D the Head of Planning and Development Board UNAIR.
Prof. Hery Purnonasuki said that in UNAIR there are a lot researches which have not been used optimally. Most of researches reported as scientific journal, but it could have been written as popular scientific journals that can be read by wider society.
淗opefully, after knowing the methodology and tips about writing, there will be many lectures and researchers in UNAIR who will write popular scientific article on mass media, said the professor of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST).
In the first session, Agus Muttaqin delivered a presentation about the editorial, how to write well to meet the requirements for newspaper, point out the ideas, select the words and also about the writing technique.
淥pinion writer should use communicative language, without going around the bush and be brief. Readers nowadays would like to read simple article, easy to read and understandable, Agus Musttaqin said.
The most important for opinion writer is not plagiarizing , when they want to quote from another party, they should attach the source. They do not need ghost writers and are not advised to send the same article to another media. There must be an interesting and original angle for the writing an opinion.
Bagong Suyanto gave more tips and tricks to make the articles accepted and published on mass media. They should not convey many ideas in explanation as a solution, the causes explained as the angle of writing, should not write more normative ideas to make the idea simple.

Meanwhile, Badri Munir Sukoco talked about 淎cademic Culture: Simple Thoughts. He encouraged the lecturers and researchers in UNAIR to keep publishing their works. Through Google Scholar citations, hopefully it can enhance the index reputation as UNAIR expected.
