UNAIR NEWS – Niken Indriyanti was consistent in conducting research while studying in Pharmacy Doctoral Program of .Through his research on“TheEffect of Ethical Acetate Fraction of Cocor Bebek Leaves (Kalanchoe pinnata (Lmk) Press) against Lupus Biomarkers in Mice听“, Niken earned the best graduate award with a perfect GPA, 4.00.
This research was a continuation of previous research on the effect of Cocor Bebek leaf extract on lupus mice conducted during her Master program (S-2) at ITB in 2011. Cocor Bebek leaf is potential and very easy to grow in Indonesia, so it can be raw materials of herbal medicine produced domestically.
“To date, lupus patients have relied heavily onoff-labeldrugsto maintain their health, regardless of the risk of side effects of the drug.It demands effective, safe and effective new supplement or drug treatment for lupus, “said the woman born in Trenggalek, March 3, 1985.
The results of Niken studies were very satisfactory, and published in reputable international journals in November 2017 and February 2018. Some of the results were also published as oral papers in international seminar forums in Brawijaya University, March 2017, and UNAIR July 2017. She also won the national competitionCare for Lupus SDF Awardsby Syamsi Dhuha Foundation consecutively, in 2011 and 2012.
“Each study has its own ‘art’.I have studied the model of lupus mice since 2011, so there were no significant constraints.Moreover, UNAIR has complete equipment andtrainingprogramsto support student capability as well as international journal subscriptions.However, this study is time-consuming as manymarkerswere measured, “Niken explained.
In the future, she continues to improve the quantity and quality of publications in reputable international journals including as book as a learning material for novice researchers and students.(*)
