UNAIR NEWS“ The forum between student organizations (ormawa) is certainly a place to exchange ideas from diverse backgrounds of interest.Moreover, from the regional forum, the network and experience gained was more variety.
As an effort of introducing 51¶¯Âþ to student organizations in various ASEAN countries, UNAIR attended the 6thASEAN Student Leaders Forum (ASLF) and The 2ndAUN-Student Affairs Network Meeting.The forum took place in Vietnam from 5 to 9 December 2017.
The forum organized by ASEAN University Network (AUN) was attended by three delegates from UNAIR student organization and the Director of Student Affairs as an institution that oversees ormawa in UNAIR.The forum was followed by delegation of students from campus who joined in AUN membership.
UNAIR delegation included Dr.M. Hadi Subhan as Director of Student Affairs, Anang Fajrul Ukhwaluddin as Head of BEM, Rinaldi Yoga Tamara as Deputy of BEM, and Tamara Meiliana Siswanto, 2017 Ambassador. During their stay for four days in Vietnam, they visited Vietnam National University and Can Tho University.
They participated in a series of events, one of them was an international seminar where the former Vietnam Ambassador to the European Union spoke.After the event, the delegations were divided into four teams.Each team had a discussion and made a conclusion for a predetermined topic.
In addition, there was also a university student forum.The Forum reviewed the AUN-Student Affairs Network future strategies.
Director of Student Affairs UNAIR, Hadi Subhan greatly appreciated the activity as the forum was not only followed by student representatives from each university, but also the management as a companion.So, there can be exchanged thoughts about the management of student affairs.
“The ASLF Forum is very important because it internationalizes the student organizations, expandsnetworkamong AUN member universities, discusses actual global topics, and provides recognition by the AUN member universities abroad for student activities at UNAIR,” Hadi said.
Hadi hoped that UNAIR will one day be trusted tohostthe ASLF.The forum is able to attract foreign students to dostudent exchangeat UNAIR so it can increase the number ofinboundforeign students as well as improve the rank of UNAIR in the world universityrankings.
“In addition to introducing UNAIR at ASEAN level, this forum is very necessary as a forum of exchange of ideas with other universities in ASEAN.The goal is to make each student organization be more innovative and evolving in answering the progress that exists, especially ASEAN level, “said Anang.(*)
