Optimistic Developing Research on Olive Oil Due To Patients Testimonies

UNAIR NEWS Besides proven capable to take down MRSA bacteria, the magic effect of ozonized olive oil turns out to also work for diabetic legs patients. After repeatedly smearing the ointment onto an open wound on their legs, the condition is getting better. They do not have to have their legs amputated.

This patients experience was told by Dr. Agung Dwi Wahyu Widodo, dr., M.Si., in a diabetic legs workshop at the Hall of Diagnostic Center Building (GDC) RSUD Dr. Soetomo, Friday (17/2).

Actually Im not the one who give you testimony, because I didnt predict that the effect would be this far; its the patients themselves who told me their experience in using the olive oil. I often receive pictures and testimonies from patients which they share on WA, he said.

Agung did not predict that the ointment dramatic effect would also be beneficial for the wound healing on diabetic legs patients. The healing process itself is quite fast. Before, the condition of patients legs was very bad, and almost got amputated. But after a therapy using this ointment, the wound is getting healed. It often happens, a patient is scheduled to get an amputation but then it is cancelled, he revealed.

Through his research, Agung concluded that the effect of ozonized olive oil works to kill germs and speed the healing process at the same time. This quality makes the olive oil ointment differs from the other skin cream products, which in general only have one effect.

This olive oil has double functions. The healing process itself becomes faster because it defeats the germs first, then it heals, he explained.

Agung claimed that the ozonized olive oil ointment does not cause resistance, has no irritation effect, and is not addictive; all because the ointment is composed from natural ingredients.

Because it is purely made of natural ingredients, this ointment is also safe to be used as skin moisturizer, to solve skin problems like acne, to conceal stretchmark, as anti-allergen on baby skin, and to soothe burns. In fact one of my patients casually smears this ointment between his odorous toes; the result makes him happy, he said comically.

This research has been through two examination stages, namely a test at the laboratory of Microbiology FK UNAIR to see the germs resistance and also an animal testing. After this, Biofilm test or a test to see the layer made by germs on foreign objects will be prepared.

Actually germs can possibly exist on infusion needles, even metal pins installed to bones, although they are brand new. This condition actually often causes infection on patients, he revealed.

The urgent usage of the olive oil ointment is inevitable. According to his observation so far, most of MRSA infection patients are the poor; likewise for diabetic legs patients. Considering this condition, Agung then initiated to give the olive oil ointment for free to patients in need. It breaks my heart to see a poor patient who gets an amputation because of a severe wound on his leg, he said.

As with MRSA, in 2008 Agung composed a guideline on MRSA management. The guideline includes management for patients, wound treatment management and environment management. According to him, this guideline is important since MRSA contagion is possible to be taken home by a patient who is not totally cured.

Usually, MRSA patients have to be discharged from hospital because the limited fund of BPJS; whereas they are unlikely to be totally cured. This is dangerous because as long as a patient isnt totally cured, contagion in family environment is possible to happen, he said.

After successfully proving the potential of olive oil to fight MRSA, Agung plans to develop his research to cancer. I will find out whether this ozonized olive oil is able to cure cancer wound, like breast cancer for example. If this is successful, it is expected that patients dont have to undergo an operation and give their precious asset up, said the man who was born in April 1975.

Agung also plans to do a further research to seek anti-virus effect in olive oil. The success of the research definitely is for the benefit of people. Wish me luck, said this enthusiast of tasawwuf and classic books. (*)
