UNAIR NEWS “ East Java™s BAPOMI contingent in 15th National Student Sports Week (POMNAS) in Makassar is supported by dozens of students. On the first day of the competition, Sunday, October 15, the team won three gold medals, five silver medals, and one bronze medal.
Two gold medals were from swimming, one medal was from chess. One silver medal was from swimming and four pieces of silver from the chess table.A bronze was from Petanque athlete, Wahyu Widodo.
Two swimming gold medals were presented by Nurul Fajar Fitriati from the 100m freestyle, and the 100m butterfly.The silver medal was donated by Unesa female swimmer, Dea Salsabila Puteri in women’s 200m freestyle.
“Looking at her achievements (Nurul) over the years and the opponents, I have predicted that two gold can be won,” said Dr.Imam Marsudi, M.Si., East Java swimming coach tounair.news.
Imam Marsudi was optimistic that fromthisaquaticsport, Team POMNAS East Java can still add more medals because Nurul and the other East Java swimmers can still perform again in another events.
On the first day, Sunday, several sports followed by East Java also achieved positive results.Men’s basketball team in the first round won from North Sulawesi, 115-67 while the women’s basketball team beat Lampung 113-20.

In badminton, both men and women events also won. The men™s team of East Java after defeating West Papua 3-1 in the morning, also won over the home team of South Sulawesi 2-1 in the afternoon.While the women™s team won from South Sumatra 2-1.
