Positive Impacts from Synergy with BUMN

UNAIR NEWS 2017 Business WeekAirlangga was a competition held by Semi Autonomous Board (BSO) Business Study Forum Faculty of Law.

Series of events have been organized by the committee to make Business Week this year a success. One of them is a national seminar which was held in collaboration with Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) and one of the competent lecturers of FH UNAIR in Civil Law.

The seminar held on Thursday, May 4 was on 淚mproving Integrity of KPPU for Healthy and Competent Business Competition.

The participants were from Business Week participants, Faculty of Law 51动漫 and the public.

The first presentation was from Dr. Sukarmi, a member of KPPU. Sukarmi explained about KPPU roles in business competition, market structure approach, prohibited business practice, cartel, BUMN synergy and business competition.

淐artel is an extraordinary crime because the impact is directly felt. For example, on the case of rising price of shallots, the consumer take the impacts. Business practitioners are prohibited to monopolize the market of goods and services, said Sukarmi.

The next presentation was from a lecturer of Business Competition Law, Ria Setyawati, LL.M. Ria elaborated the role of law in managing business competition in Indonesia which involves synergy between BUMN and its impacts to business competition in Indonesia.

淭he impacts of BUMN synergy to business competition are market strength centralization, market structure change, potential monopoly, barrier to entry potential to business competitors, and competition elimination, said Ria.

Ria said that there are positive impacts of BUMN synergy. They are efficiency, government control, and APBN improvement from tax and non-tax sectors.

The seminar moderated by Kukuh Leksono, LL.M has received a positive response from the participants. It can be seen from the enthusiasm showed by the participants during discussion sessions with the speakers in the seminar.
