UNAIR NEWS Universiti Teknologi Petronas Malaysia has collaborated with Airlangga in order to expand their students insight on entrepreneurship and management of Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) financial institution. There were 20 students and three lecturers from UTP Malaysia visited UNAIR on Wednesday, May 10.
For the next ten days, they will go through series of activities such as lectures on entrepreneurship by Faculty of Economics and Business lecturers, a study tour, visiting Small and Medium scale enterprises (UKM) in Madura, Gresik, and Surabaya. They wanted to get experience on how to manage UKM in Surabaya and areas around it.
During their stay in Surabaya, they are accompanied by lecturers and students of Faculty of Economics and Business UNAIR. So, beside learning economics, they also learned about the culture of Surabaya.
Dr Mohammad Pisol bin Mohd as the Deputy of Postgraduate Department UTP Malaysia said that the UTP students activities with UNAIR are expected to gain new experience. They will gain knowledge as well as learn about the culture which can be important when they get back to their country.
Furthermore, the program will also provide promotion and marketing to young entrepreneur and employees in BMT. They learn on how BMT in Surabaya makes their promotion.
After this collaboration, Pisol also hoped there will be more collaborations on research and certain topic to organize a conference. 淲e want to establish a comprehensive and vast academic partnership. Research and journal collaborations, seminar and also conference to give significant contributions in academic field, said Pisol.
淲e exchange knowledge on economics, share the knowledge to face globalization. We learn together on the character of both countries, said Aulia, FEB students of UNAIR.
Aulia said that UTP students visit to Surabaya especially in UNAIR was made to exchange knowledge on the latest technology used to develop the economy of community with small and medium enterprises. (*)
